Bristol is a city that wears its creativity on its sleeve; from vibrant murals and quirky shops to some truly stunning interior spaces. Whether you’re a local looking for inspiration or just visiting for the weekend, this guide pulls together some of my favourite spots around the city for inspirational interiors.
From Jacobean to brutalism, cosy cafés to hot hotels, these interiors are well worth a visit (and a photo or two). Let’s dive in.
Best Cafés & Coffee Shops with Beautiful Interiors
Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, Clifton
This vibrant little venue packs a punch with its terrazzo-tiled bar, timber tables, and coral-pink outdoor setup. A brilliant stop for brunch, lunch, or a coffee and pastry to wander Clifton with.
Spicer + Cole, Royal West of England Academy
This local favourite nails the warm Scandi vibe across its branches, but this one stands out for its setting inside the RWA. Pale woods and clean joinery meet traditional Victorian tiles – perfect before or after a gallery visit.
Ah Toots, City Centre
Technically it’s the exterior that steals the show, with its cake-filled window tucked inside a crooked old building. But the pastries are spectacular and peering in feels like stepping back in time. A treat worth the queue.
Bars & Restaurants with Standout Design
Llandoger Trow, King Street
A Jacobean gem with ornate plaster ceilings, chunky timber beams, and a roaring fireplace. Historic England describes it as the finest group of C17 timber-framed buildings in the city. The pints aren’t bad either.
The Lido, Clifton
Tapas with a view of the pool, this spot is as refreshing as it is beautiful. It feels like a mini holiday, but with a distinctly English twist.
Cor, Bedminster
Minimalist and monochrome with a quiet confidence – Cor is low-key fine dining at its best. The food is sublime and the team couldn’t be friendlier.
Boutique Hotels with Style
Artist Residence, Portland Square
Every room here is a surprise. Think vintage finds, bold artwork, and mismatched charm done perfectly. A great base to explore from and a designer’s dream.
Places to Go
Red Lodge
Step inside this Elizabethan townhouse just minutes from the city centre. Wood panelling, rich colour palettes and centuries of stories in one gorgeous building.
The Georgian House, Clifton
Ever wandered Clifton and wondered what lies behind those elegant façades? This is your chance. A beautifully preserved Georgian interior that tells a powerful story of both wealth and enslavement. Moving and memorable.
Clifton Cathedral

Clifton Cathedral or, to give it its full name; The Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul, is a Roman Catholic Cathedral built in the 1970 and has one of the most striking brutalist interiors you’ll ever see. All parts serene, sculptural and unexpected, it is not one to miss.
Final Thoughts
Bristol is full of beautiful, clever, and characterful spaces – all perfect for soaking up inspiration or just enjoying a well-designed moment with a coffee in hand. Have a favourite spot I’ve missed? Drop it in the comments or tag me on Instagram as I’m always up for discovering somewhere new.
And if all this exploring has got you dreaming about elevating your own interiors, be they residential or a commercial, I’d love to help make it happen.
