Marlborough Bedroom
An opulent haven for antique lovers
In this late Georgian bedroom, our design pays homage to the property’s rich history and the client’s passion for antiques. The brief called for an opulent scheme that embraced bold colour while celebrating the home’s heritage.

Researching period-appropriate colour palettes, fabric histories, and architectural details was a joy. We drew inspiration from the deeper hues of the Regency era, such as those found in Strawberry Hill, selecting a complex burgundy shade for the walls and a soft stone shade on the large housekeepers cupboard.
Swag and tail drapery sets an opulent tone, complemented by the wall hanging, fine antique furniture and a brass bed. To balance the formality, we introduced contemporary elements: a modern bench upholstered in a luxurious cut velvet, a checkered throw, and simple cushions, grounding the room in the present.

It was a pleasure to create a space so deeply rooted in the history of the building.
If you’re thinking about your own project—whether heritage or modern—I’d be delighted to help.
